Gluten-Free Meal Delivery in Melbourne & Sydney: The Honest Guide
Yes, you can get gluten-free meal delivery across Melbourne and Sydney, and at The Sweet Potato Kitchen it arrives frozen, ready to heat in minutes, and made without a single gluten-containing ingredient. Here is the honest part most brands skip over: there is a real difference between 'gluten free' and 'gluten friendly', and it matters a great deal if you have coeliac disease.
What does gluten-free meal delivery actually mean?
It means ready-made meals, cooked without gluten ingredients, delivered to your home so you skip the label-reading and the cooking. But 'gluten free' is a regulated term in Australia: under the Food Standards Code it means no detectable gluten at all, one of the strictest standards in the world.
Is gluten friendly the same as gluten free?
Short answer: no, and the difference is about the kitchen, not the recipe. Every one of our own meals is made without gluten-containing ingredients. What we cannot promise on our own meals is a fully gluten-free facility, because they are made in a shared commercial kitchen. So we call them gluten friendly. A handful of products we stock are made by dedicated suppliers who certify them gluten free.
| Gluten free (certified) | Gluten friendly | |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredients | No gluten | No gluten |
| Made in | A dedicated gluten-free facility | A shared kitchen, cleaned between uses |
| Guaranteed no cross-contact | Yes | No |
| Best for | Coeliac disease | Gluten avoidance and sensitivity |
Which of our meals are gluten free, and which are gluten friendly?
Certified gluten free (made and certified by our suppliers): Gluten Free Herb Focaccia and Gluten Free Potato Gnocchi from Ardor Gluten Free, plus Chicken & Lemongrass Dumplings, Tofu & Shiitake Dumplings and Shanghai Noodles from House of Goodness.
Gluten friendly (our own hand-made meals): everything else, from the Sweet Potato Shepherd's Pie and Organic Grass-Fed Bolognese to our vegan and vegetarian meals, grass-fed red meat mains, free-range chicken meals and soups and sides. All are also dairy free and refined sugar free.

Organic, grass-fed, and made without gluten, dairy, or refined sugar. Bake from frozen.
Are the meals safe if you have coeliac disease?
Here is the straight answer. Our certified gluten-free products are made in dedicated facilities and are suitable for coeliacs. Our own meals are made without any gluten ingredients, but because they share a kitchen with foods that contain gluten, we cannot guarantee zero cross-contact, so we do not market them as safe for coeliac disease. If you are coeliac, stick to the certified items above. If you avoid gluten for sensitivity or preference, our full gluten-friendly range is open to you.
Good news for the future: we are moving to a new kitchen, and once we do, more of our range will become fully gluten free.
How does gluten-free meal delivery work in Melbourne and Sydney?
Everything is cooked in small batches, snap-frozen to lock in freshness, and delivered to your door across both Melbourne and Sydney. Delivery is a flat $19 to metro areas and $25 to regional areas, the same for both cities, and shipping is free once your order is over $199. Meals keep in the freezer for months, so a single delivery can cover weeks of dinners.

A hand-picked box of our most popular gluten-friendly meals, delivered frozen. Free shipping over $199.
How to sort a week of gluten-friendly dinners
Start with a bundle so the choosing is done for you, then add a few certified gluten-free extras if you are coeliac or cooking for someone who is. A typical week might be three hearty mains, a couple of soups for lunches, and a pack of the certified dumplings or gnocchi for a quick side. Heat, serve, done.
